The
is a London wide design competition for Year 8 students in which participating teams have to complete a conceptual design, and build a model of a Community Sports Venue in the Greater London region. With the upcoming sports extravaganza of the Olympics, 2012 offers a unique opportunity to engage students in this fun, exciting & educational initiative that develops their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) curriculum skills and a whole host of other invaluable core life skills.
Students will get the opportunity to work with industry professionals to complete project work that is similar in content and form to the kind of problems they will encounter again and again during work experience, higher education and eventual careers in building design/engineering or any other field.
Students - learn about engineering and use what they learn at school in a practical, fun project
Schools - introduce your students to engineering & architectural career options and enhance their curriculum knowledge
Engineers - contribute to the future of the profession and earn CPD credits
What is the Create Sport Challenge?
The Create Sport Challenge is a national competition that will show students that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) GCSE subjects can be engaging, fun and a crucial stepping stone towards a fulfilling career in engineering or any other field.
The Challenge is to design a Community Sports Venue that meets local needs. Students will consider all the main aspects that a professional building designer would in performing similar projects.
A working engineer or an engineering graduate will work with the school students to help them consider all these aspects.
The overall aim is to impress upon students the importance of STEM curriculum options in an accessible and fun context, and to allow them to begin an examination of available career options within the built environment.
